The carillon of the Church of Saint Jean-Baptiste of Bourbourg has been an essential element of the identity of this town in Flanders since 1548, and is now part of the French bell tower. During WWII, a fire in the church silenced the instrument. The Carillon has been restored, recast and refurbished many times, but the latest renovation in 2008 by PACCARD makes it one of the most beautiful carillons in France. 50 new bells were cast by the Foundry. A new keyboard, which can be operated manually in the traditional way, can also play automatically thanks to a system of pneumatic cylinders. The carillon once again marks time by reciting its ritornellos every quarter hour and has regained its pre-war splendor. Today, the Carillon of Bourbourg is one of the most beautiful carillons in France.
