Ars Sonora of Notre-Dame-de-Bondeville

The Abbey & Industry Ars Sonora is an original work of contemporary art.

The Abbey & Industry Ars Sonora designed and signed by artist Jean-Marc Bonnard and manufactured by the PACCARD foundry, is one of the largest and most beautiful in Europe. Signed by the artist, this grand musical sculpture was designed to evoke the history of Notre-Dame de Bondeville (Seine Maritime), and enrich the city’s heritage in a way that would encourage cultural tourism. Its elegant silhouette soars towards the sky in a harmony of shapes and materials. Its Gothic arches evoke the religious past of the town while its central chimney, more than 32 feet high (10 meters), recalls the industrial past of what was known as Little Manchester. Its 48 bells (four chromatic octaves) play their sweet melodies to the rhythm of time and the seasons.
